Gene Tree Parsimony (GTP) is an approach for inferring species trees from collections of gene trees with a history of gene duplication and loss. Recently, efficient heuristics were developed enabling the first large-scale phylogenetic studies using GTP. However, effective large-scale studies are restrained to especially designed data-sets suitable for GTP heuristics. The goal of this proposed program is to make GTP truly applicable to most large-scale data-sets.
